The Joy of Living - Level II: Opening the Heart
In this weekend meditation workshop, we will learn how meditating on loving-kindness and compassion can open our hearts to the world around us and relax our habitual patterns that lead to anxiety, dissatisfaction, and suffering. Cultivating loving-kindness and compassion helps us to see the basic goodness that all beings share. By relating to others in an open hearted way, we bring peace to the mind and develop a sense of confidence and purpose. This, in turn, naturally brings harmony to our relationships and enables us to work with challenging situations more effectively.
The schedule for this weekend workshop includes video teachings by Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, short presentations on the key points of meditation practice by Tergar instructor, and Buddhist Center founder, Tim Olmsted,, as well as guided meditations and discussion.
This retreat is open to meditators who have previously attended a Joy of Living Level I meditation workshop and practiced meditation regularly for six months and to those who have practiced meditation regularly for at least three years.
This Joy of Living retreat is a part of a series of three retreats that will lead students to Mingyur Rinpoche’s Path of Liberation teachings. These teachings include extensive investigation into the practice of Mahamudra as well as the ‘pointing out the nature of mind’ which is the very heart essence of the wisdom tradition. For more information about Mingyur Rinpoche’s training go here.
